Insurance-approved garage to avoid...: Following a tree falling at the Saskia residence on the day of Storm Kirk, my vehicle was damaged and needed to be repaired at the Sauvage garage in Cazaubon.
To get some practical information, I went there on October 11, 2024. The customer service was deplorable, and the claims manager refused to even see my vehicle. On October 14, 2024, I dropped off my car for inspection, gave the key to the receptionist, and walked home (3.5 km).
After contacting the assessor, I negotiated to have the urgent repairs done and the bodywork handled at Opel Cherbourg. The approved garage then told me I should pay this bill because of a dispute with my insurance company?! As a customer, I have nothing to do with this internal problem! He told me I could go home without worry, not compromising on safety. Having serious cervical problems and Bechterew's disease, I can't imagine crossing France and driving on the major ring road between Bordeaux and Nantes in bad weather and at night without a right-side mirror, a torn rear wiper, and very limited, if any, visibility through the rear window. There was no left-side position light and no central brake light. Where is the tact? Where is the dignity in neglecting the safety of elderly people to this extent? I remind you that we are in a spa town with spa-goers who deserve a little more consideration…

One of the garages in the area still capable of repairing older ranges and, moreover, still having certain specific tools and a workshop manager who is passionate about old cars, which is becoming rare. They restored my R25 gtx and that made it easier for me to get it inspected with a favorable final opinion. The bill was reasonable compared to the estimate I had received from the Mont de Marsan dealership (which, incidentally, hadn't really done anything).
