What to think! I'll stick to the facts. Following a major oil leak, I contacted this dealership and got an appointment in 3 to 4 weeks. In the meantime, to put my mind at ease, I had my vehicle inspected at Renault Minute. The problem was identified, but they told me they couldn't handle that type of repair due to potential complications. Armed with this information, I went back to the Renault dealership to make sure they could actually carry out the repair, which they confirmed. So I dropped off my vehicle. The dealer then informed me that the repair could be problematic: it would be necessary to remove the injectors to replace the valve cover. On a vehicle with 260,000 km, the injectors are bound to be seized and risk being damaged during removal, which would significantly increase the bill (€500 per injector). Furthermore, their positions would need to be redone, as they would be damaged when removing the broken injectors. However, on such an old engine, this is highly unlikely. So, why not consider replacing the cylinder head? Yes, but it's not available from Renault. Moreover, on such an old engine, there's a good chance of encountering unpleasant surprises. So, replace the engine then? That would cost €11,000, and there are no engines available from Renault. Between the cost of an €11,000 engine and that of a four-year-old used car, it seemed more sensible to go for a used vehicle, which the Renault dealer also advised. A bit disheartened, I spoke to a friend who recommended a garage. After I explained the situation, the garage told me that the repair itself wouldn't be a problem, except for finding the part, which was unavailable from Renault. They suggested I look for it online. That same evening, I found the part in 10 minutes for €130. The part was replaced without any issues, and the repair cost me around €500, including the part. Whereas when I left the Renault dealership, they were saying I'd have to replace my car! I've just driven 1000 km without any problems. Just the facts!
